Tonight is a full moon. I can’t decide whether to call this flowering moon, leaf moon or milk moon. I call Beltane the Feast of Flowers, so it seems like this moon should have a different name than that. It is the time when there are hundreds of flowers around, but its also the time when all the trees have leaves on. Calving season has just finished and traditionally the cows were put out to pasture at the beginning of May which means a lot of milk is available now – production is at its highest. There are many ways to celebrate a full moon – go to a local water source and watch the tides, eat circular foods, do a lunar ritual (see here) or look back on the last “lunar month” to review it and feel grateful for all that has happened. How will you be celebrating this evening? What do you call this moon?
Also of interest over the next couple of days is the dance of planets….
